Hi, and thanks for dropping by. I hope you enjoy browsing and getting to know me better. Here’s a little of my story …
I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, and moved to Australia when I was in my mid-twenties. Good thing I made the move, because I met my husband-to-be straight away! We moved from Sydney to Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast when our first child was on the way, and we live here still, close to our three adult children, two daughters and a son.
I’ve always been an avid reader. As a child, I would read anywhere – in the car, in the bathroom, under the bed covers with a torch – I would’ve read during dinner if I’d been allowed! I wrote, too. Boring stories, like ‘A Day in the Life of a Coin’, which I’d ask my teachers to read, poor things. I even rewrote the ending of ‘Little Women’ because I was so upset when Beth died. The signs were there 🙂
Still, music was my first passion, so it wasn’t until a long time later that I sat down and began writing the novel that had been in my head for several years. I came home from work, (I taught fifth graders for a long time), set up my laptop and wrote ‘Chapter One’ at the top of my page. By the time I’d finished that first chapter I was hooked, and A Simple Mistake was born.
I’ve retired from teaching, and these days my life is filled with family, writing, giving workshops on writing, and of course, reading. Oh, and I can be easily persuaded to ditch my laptop in favour of coffee with a friend.
I love writing romance. There’s just something special about that first connection, that first spark, and the emotional rollercoaster of falling in love. And I’m lucky enough to have a front row seat! I can’t imagine being anywhere else.
